A whirlwind. (A list.)

  • A whirlwind. That's what this month has been!
  • Texas was so amazing. It was incredible to be with my sister in the warmth! I appreciate all they did to make our visit comfortable and special. I didn't want to leave. She'll be here in two days though so I'm all smiles about that.
  • In general Indiana has been grey. So have I.
  • Bits of sunshine here and there though.
  • I had a fun interview with a local magazine and we had a family photo shoot for the newspaper here as well. Can't wait to see the results.
  • Business is coming along quite nicely in my newest shop, Someday Soon, and I am in love with making pretty plugs. The vintage shop is quiet as a church mouse though. Perhaps it will pick up when folks are back into buying for themselves.
  • Luckily I had the opportunity to participate in some incredible local shopping events. It tickles me pink to know folks are receiving vintage items I handpicked for holiday gifts!
  • My most favorite lady from the zoo/gardens (where I used to work) passed away right after Thanksgiving. I was majorly bummed out. (Read: inconsolable.) She was plucky and funny and kind and the hardest working 80+ year old woman in the world. She was cherished and will be missed. I don't handle death the greatest.
  • I have also had one hell of a lingering cold. I tried working through it but finally took a sick day. Couch, blankie, and Season 1 of American Horror Story. Which, btw, was so freaking good.
  • Ummkay, I went to the most theatric and rad wedding ever a couple weeks back. Ballerinas, cocktails, sequins, and all black everything. Super cool.
  • Whenever I write these lists I remember everything is not broken.
  • I am so nervous if my loved ones will like the gifts I got them! (The majority handmade or local!) Even if you aren't a Christian old habits die hard. I can't just quit giving gifts.
  • Eric loves the aluminum tree (that was my great grandparents) and spends so much time sitting beside it watching the color wheel turn. So cute. Shiva has also made the tree skirt a hang out spot and enjoys "hiding" there. I'm pretty sure she thinks we can't see her.
  • I had the first case opened against my vintage shop ever and it made me so upset. I enjoy selling on Etsy but it is sad that it is not set up to help/protect sellers and allows us to be bullied by a customer if they so chose. I took a loss and refunded money on an item that is in the mail. I basically gave an item away to avoid persecution by Etsy and unwarranted negative feedback. Ugh.
  • MAC nail polish is not cheap but holy moly is it good. (And lasts!)
  • "Just a perfect day, you made me forget myself. I thought I was someone else, someone good..."
  • Looking for something to watch on Netflix? Medicine for Melancholy. Yep.
  • I am working on being less stubborn, less judgmental, and less angry. Heaven help.
  • Quarter life crisis are much cuter when you're, well, 25.
  • I finally wore my velvet Rachel Antonoff for Bass oxfords and they are so comfy! I may look like a 10 year old girl at every holiday function imaginable this year and I don't care.
  • Thanks to Trinity I downloaded the Nike Training app to ye old iPhone. Now I just need the willpower to actually do the workouts! It looks pretty awesome though.
  • I am stuffing myself with comfort food which is turning out to be not so comforting.
  • Doesn't everyone make new year's resolutions to work out and eat healthier? I really need to commit though. I feel like a turd a lot of the time and I know why!
  • I'm sort of digging all this gift wrapping I've been doing!
  • I shouldn't try to cram weeks worth of updates into one list but sorrrrrrry! Life is happening, and fast.
  • Off to stand in the long post office line. I am taking treats for my friendly post office ladies today!

  1. I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. If you use the word "plucky" then she just had to be a real gem of a lady. I know she'll be missed.

Wow, you take treats to your postal clerks? I've always wondered if they're allowed to take them. I guess that answers that!

I agree about Etsy. I've had two buyers try to bully me for no reason and Etsy did absolutely nothing besides offer to let me "kiss and make up" with them - which I didn't. I'm a pretty stubborn seller if I didn't do anything wrong.

    1. I loved that woman so much. I don't have grandparents and I looked forward to our time together. She was incredible and touched so many lives.

Yep! I took them a bag filled with yummy snacks. Chocolate dipped pretzels, peppermint cookies, mixed nuts, red & green tortilla chips and salsa, flavored coffee, and Hershey Kisses. They help me out so much and I wanted to show appreciation. They were thrilled. I think a treat for them to share is okay!

It is insane. I search the forums frequently for help and the abuse by some buyers (the minority) is rampant. I can't even defend myself while the buyer is able to leave negative feedback or open a case or complain to Etsy. Sometimes they are in the wrong. It is human nature. I'm pretty stubborn as well and wanted to insist that she continue to anticipate her package but I am so busy this week that I just didn't have the energy to respond to tons of messages. :( The bright side is the other 99% of my customers who are awesome and understanding and reasonable.

  2. Such a lovely collection of photos!

I just DL'd the Nike app too! Hopefully i'll actually use it! lol

Etsy customers can be such a pain sometimes. & the customer is NOT always right! but one of my customers [international] that had been refunded after an etsy case, actually randomly received her vintage item weeks later and was nice enough to send the payment back. [very rare] but maybe your customer will do the same! <3
