Walking the tightrope. (A list.)

  • Guys, seriously. I feel like I blinked my eyes and three weeks flew by. It sorta happened like that.
  • I loved having my family here for the holidays but I did ZERO work for well over a week. Yikes. Lots of lounging on the couch, watching reality tv, and eating like there was no tomorrow.
  • I had to work like my life depended on it to update my shops as soon as they left but New Year's Day was my very best (so far) sales day ever on Etsy!! Doing a praise dance cause mama had mad bills to pay. Glor-aaay! *fans self*
  • I signed up for my first boot camp. What a new years-y thing to do! I know. lol I am also attempting to detox a bit from my stank ass holiday eating habits. Gotta tighten my rear up.
  • Marvin Gaye's "Here My Dear" is some of the realest shit ever.
  • If you're in the market for plugs take a gander at Someday Soon cause I've got some stuff in stock that is *so* freaking good.
  • Snow is awesome and all but I'm over it. We've taken pretty photos, let snowflakes melt on our tongues, gone sledding, smushed it in each other's faces. Yeah. Party over.
  • I even wore my snow boots out on NYE cause I'm not one for falling and such. (But changed indoors.) Take a gander above at my great granny's vintage dress and the other stuff I threw together minutes before walking out the door. It was a good night though. So much fun. (Excuse the photo quality but those are all iPhone, in the dark, Instagramed photos. lol)
  • I wonder how other small biz owners balance family, self, and business? I'm walking the tightrope, y'all.
  • Bulk mailing supplies are the jam.
  • So are Wet n Wild .99 lipsticks. Yeah, I said it. I've bought like 10 of them and they are the bees f'ing knees. Listen to me now, believe me later on. Perfect for gals who constantly lose lipsticks! I cry when my MAC lipsticks disappear.
  • I don't want to make resolutions; more like goals. Reading, quiet (no electronic) time, more attention to fitness, and greater compassion are some of them.
  • I can do it!! ("It" being damn near anything.)
  • My love for 90s R&B knows no bounds. I've been sanging my fanny off today.
  • I salute stay at home moms. I struggle to get anything accomplished while the boys are home on vacation and they are far from babies.
  • Check out Simple Green Smoothies if you wanna get on the green juice/smoothie train!
  • We ate The Hobbit breakfast at Denny's and went to see the film as a family. I didn't hate it. (I am not good at staying awake for long movies and have never made it through Lord of the Rings.) I actually had a good time.
  • A beautiful ring a marriage does not make. We (engaged and married folks) gotta remember what's important. That rock won't save you if the ship is sinking.
  • Secret: I rarely wear my wedding ring these days. Just feels weird. And when I do wear a ring its whatever ring I feel like putting on or fits that day. With or without, I'm hitched to my Mister.
  • I want a new tattttttooooooooooooooooooooooooo! (Or three.)
  • Sometimes folks act out because they want attention. I really struggle with not providing it in the form of negative tit for tat type childishness. By nature I'm a warrior BUT I've got to look deeper and try to muster some compassion for them.
  • "Look not to the faults of others, nor to their omissions and commissions. But rather look to your own acts, to what you have done and left undone." - The Buddha
  • Heaven, help.
  • I should buy stock in Nice N Easy hair dye.
  • I've been meaning to bake a caramel apple cake for like two months now. That doesn't fit into my clean eating plan though, right?
  • A pole dancing place opened by my house. A kickboxing club, too. I may try pole dancing. I hope I don't breaketh my neck.
  • I miss my sister so much after she leaves. No one knows me as well as she does.
  • I hate Trinidad James for making that ignorant (and catchy) song. I've been logging vintage jewelry and singing that crappola nonstop.
  • "Ain't nobody got time for that." - Sweet Brown (I say this all the time now.)
  • I bought 1000 of the wrong size kraft paper bags today. I'm finna make 'em the right size.
  • I tweet out a lot of the amazingly brilliant (and insane) stuff Eric says. He's still planning to sue me. :/
  • "My dress ain't cost nothin' but seven dollars but I made it fly, and I'll tell ya why... cause I'm clever..."
  • Let's see, it's a Friday night. I should be watching hours of YouTube make up tutorials, deep conditioning my hair, and washing my make up brushes. Let me get to it.

  1. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. And, unrelated, 1000 kraft paper bags? Those are a lot of wrong size bags! Good luck. :D

    1. Thank you! Yes, 1000! I usually order them on Etsy and it is like $25 for 100 + shipping. I was in ye old wholesale spot buying bubble mailers and thought there were bags in the same size. I got 1000 for $16. They are just a smidge too big but they will work. It's an opportunity for creativity I suppose. lol :)

  3. I'm glad people made it rain on your shops for new years! that's a good first day of the year.

Jasika Nicole has a sweet post about rings (she and her partner pick up random inexpensive ones often) http://sugarbooty.tumblr.com/post/39757495499

yes to Sweet Brown. I think it more often than I say it out loud, and picture the gif in my head. http://24.media.tumblr.com/9a38d3e2ad6140232d68005eaa93409f/tumblr_mg9l5l8Jpf1rts2rzo1_500.gif lol.
