*As usual, things are happening faster than I can (or care to) document them.
*One day I'll be rad enough to run two businesses, take care of my family, have some sort of social life, look halfway decent- and blog about all of it! Until then... this is it.
*My husband threw a Dre Day party. I was skeptical cause I haven't listened to The Chronic or gave two shits about Dr Dre (or his dumb ass headphones) in like a billion years but that place was packed! I had a great time, too. People of every imaginable type were there enjoying themselves. I didn't drink a 40 though. Steel Reserve. That's asking to leave this Earth.
*Valentine's Day was quiet. Nick had to work super early so I spent the majority of the day with Shiva, working on upcycled jewelry. We did manage to go grab sushi at our favorite spot, H20 Sushi, before he ran off to his last gig of the night. They make the most incredible vegetarian sushi yums like ever.
*Shiva got Lamb Chop and Mr. Bill for Valentine's Day. She has already kicked Lamb Chop's ass from here to Bloomington but Mr. Bill escapes her wrath since he talks. It scares her when he says, "OH NOOOOOO!" so she drops him and runs away.
* I seriously have every shade of Wet N Wild lipstick imaginable now. They are so cheap and good. I know I've told y'all like 3 times already but its crucial that you grab a few. Guilt free beauty that works like a charm. Have you tried them yet?
*"Surely you'll break my heart but I'll be there beside you with lots of love to give..."
*Audrey Hepburn is my style star right now. I want to try a more muted make up look but I am in love with bold lips and brows and too sparkly eye shadow. I'm working toward a different look. Sloooowly.
*I'm even considering wearing black more often. That's a big switch.
*I am still juicing but sort of worn out with it. Seems like it all tastes the same now. I think the summer offers more possibility. I love watermelon but can't get one right about now without selling a kidney.
*Sweet baby Jesus has provided many cheap avocados though! An avocado on an Ezekiel muffin rocks my world!! Blood oranges are in season, too. Talk about a happy family. Why are they so expensive though? Boo!
*Janet Jackson's "Anytime, Anyplace" is as perfect as it gets.
*I'm inspired by my sister's big heart today. Treating people compassionately truly does go a long way.
*I wish my mom didn't get so mad over the smallest things.
*I listened to my dad's record for the first time in a long time last week. Still jams.
*Spring, where for art thou?!? I want to get my hands in the dirt, get my chickens, and hopefully finally try bee keeping.
*I'll still make time for work and stuff though. lol
*My hair has been getting so greasy, so fast. Dirty hair, don't care. I'm not changing my wash schedule cause imo my hair grows best when borderline neglected. I just bun it or let it hang to the side.
*Interracial marriage is something else. I think my husband thinks I'm overly sensitive sometimes but its just difference of outlooks/opinions. Sometimes our biggest challenges are great learning opportunities though.
*I rarely weigh myself and only know if I'm up or down according to how my jeans fit but my oldest son is working out and trying to grow so he pulled the scale out last week. In a little over a month of vegan- ish eating (I can eat eggs, no problem) I have lost 10 lbs. 0_0 I'm sort of scared. I can't afford to lose a lot of weight but I will admit that my guts have never felt better without cheese clogging them up.
*I'm getting more glasses from Firmoo! I gave up on my Harry Potter meets June Ambrose look and took a cue from Run DMC. lmao *crosses fingers*
*I did a private shopping party for some sweet women on Sunday. Their ladies night left me tipsy and filled with laughter. I needed that!
*Women need other women. I'm convinced. No matter how hard it is for me to make lady friends in Indy my thoughts are still the same.
*"The loneliest woman in the world is the woman without a close woman friend." - Toni Morrison
*Why does everyone move away?? (Answer: cause Indianapolis can sometimes suck donkey balls.) It's magical with the right people though.
*"When I'm down I just draw some roses on a pretty piece of paper..."
*Does anyone else think the lighting in Sephora is a set up? Every time I go in there with no make up on and look in the mirror I look like a gargoyle! I end up buying a bunch of shit to try to remedy the situation.
*My dear friend, Carol, went on a make up buying shopping excursion with me. I have developed these awesome under eye circles even though I get like 12 billion hours of sleep. I'm trying Tarte concealer and foundation. I also bought a little Benefit kit so I could compare their Oxygen Wow foundation, Hello Flawless powder, and Bo-ing concealer. Hopefully one of these combos can help me out. It's so hard to find a good match so my girl's help was a life saver!
*I resisted Samoas. This is an accomplishment. The cute little girls across the street always get me. Not this year! I bought a box of Thin Mints for my family and that was it. (I don't like those so I'm safe.)
*I don't want y'all to get it twisted. I still eat sweets but as an actual treat. Not like a food group like I was. Pie and ice cream was my midnight snack every night. No bueno.
*With that being said, I'm splurging on Long's Donuts this week!
*Herbie Hancock is the man. (And not just cause he's Buddhist.)
*I miss Nick's family. (Especially Izzy.)
*I miss ice cream, too.
*And estate sales.
*And the sun.
Bye.

i love that your husband threw a dr. dre party! and man do i feel so much better without cheese! i am seriously not even MISSING it.
ReplyDeletei work in the bodycare department at whole foods and seriously, the lighting over our makeup counter is the WORST in the store. we have tons of sky lights and natural light everywhere else but with the make up it is weirdly dark with lots of shadows. now i'm wondering if they did it on purpose! haha!
It was so much fun! They had 40 koozies with his face on them and all these funny quote stickers and stuff. A great time.
DeleteI am not missing it much either! My stomach feels... empty. In a good way. Like there isn't weird stuff hanging out and rumbling around there or in my intestines. lmao Gross.
I bet its on purpose!! You look at yourself and think, "Gah, I look a fright" and then look for something to immediately fix it. Thats some crazy marketing there!!
I feel you about the interracial marriage thing. I had the most heart-wrenching, emotional talk with my husband this past weekend. We both felt better after talking, and I think we learned a lot.
ReplyDeleteI like your lists. Thanks for sharing about what's going on with you.

It is... an adventure. Luckily some of my friends are in the same boat so it feels good to know that there are people who relate and also to confirm that there is often no ill will intended, just misunderstanding. It helps us all grow.
DeleteDang girl!!! You have been way more busy than me! We have Dr. Dre headphones at my work and they are waaaay over priced...lol

They are crazy expensive!! I will just use my iPhone earbuds or those things I like to call ears to listen to music. lol I think they are more of a status symbol now than anything else. I don't have coins to throw away like that. I can think of a million other ways to spend money.
