I posted this photo on Instagram a couple weeks ago. More ish I don't need. (But wanted!) In case you can't read the boxes because of my crazy filter the products are: Pacifica Enlighten Eye Brightening Shadow Palette, Pacifica Purify Coconut Water Cleansing Wipes, and Pacifica Radiant Shimmer Coconut Multiples.
I'm trying to wean myself off of tons of harsh chemicals in my body products, make up, oral care - everything. Baby steps. I switched to Dr Bronners, Shea Moisture, fluroide free toothpaste, and coconut oil as an all over moisturizer. I also tried Juice Beauty skincare but did not care for it at all so I gave it the boot.
I recently switched to Tarte foundation and concealer but was on the hunt for some neutral eye/cheek shades to create a more natural/no make up look. I was drawn to these at Target because of their beautiful packaging and coconut oil/water component. I figured at $12.99 a piece why not give them a shot? I watched a few YouTube tutorials that night and was unsure if I was going to open them up or return them. Word on the street was that these were lacking in pigment and staying power. No glowing recommendations to be found. I let them sit on my desk for two weeks with the receipt tucked between but curiosity got the best of me.
I tried them for myself today and here are my thoughts:
Pros:
*The coconut cleansing wipes smell and feel heavenly. I still use Cetaphil with my Clarisonic, eye make up remover, then witch hazel as a toner but have taken to using these afterward for a bit of freshness. I will be buying more! Totally in love.
*The packaging is gorgeous. They waste cardboard though because of the wonky way the compacts are in the boxes. The could totally make the boxes smaller.
* The eyeshadow palette has quite nice colors and are very lightly pigmented. Perfect for a subtle look.
*The highlighting multiples are creamy and feel great on the skin. They are also extremely subtle.
*These are great products for the lady who wants an understated look OR for a young woman who is newly allowed to wear make up. I think these would be perfect for a middle school age girl because they give a touch of color/highlight but don't look like a full on made up look.
*Primarily composed of natural ingredients and portions of proceeds support clean water.
*Nice for vacation/beach wear.
Cons:
*These may be too light for your liking even if you have pale skin. Seriously sheer.
*The eyeshadow is a touch too powdery and floats everywhere before you can even apply it. So much came off when I tapped my brush to remove excess. Seems like a waste and got all over the other pans.
*If you are tan or darker these shades may not show up on you at all. I really have to apply them more heavily than I would like in order to get any color payoff.
*The trio works fine on the cheeks/skin but EWE on your lips. It feels too dry. I'd never wear them on my lips for any reason although I gave it a shot cause it said you could. No, thanks. I immediately pulled out my trusty Chantecaille Pink Guava lipgloss for a natural look that didn't look and feel like sandpaper. Get some of that if you can. A worthwhile splurge!
Sounds like I hate these products, right? I don't! I just know their place in my arsenal. I'll use them for quick applications on lazy days and a lightening fast no make up look before hitting the beach. The wipes are the truth though! I'll be purchasing another package to keep in my purse for in general freshening up this summer. They truly make you feel cool and rejuvenated.
So that's that! I wanted to talk about these products because I couldn't find a whole lot about them on the internet. Maybe this will save another woman some grief. (Or inspire a mom to let her young daughter wear just a lil somethin' somethin'.)
Do you use natural skincare/make up products? Spill the beans. Let me know what I need to check out!
